The obvious consequence of booking your vacations online is that travel agents are used less and less. It is not only because you can book your vacation form the comfort of you home but generally, it will be less expensive as well. Being of the old school, I still use my local travel agent and while they remain there, I will continue to do so eve though I do actually carry out research online.
The internet is ideal for this and it I amazing just how much you can learn from it; I am even able to know how much it will cost before I see my travel agent. These people are not only there to book your travel, they are there to answer any and all of your questions regarding traveling. For instance, when international travel is concerned, they should be able to help you with local laws to the country you are traveling too that could relate to your stay.
They can make recommendations of places that are particularly interesting, if there are any fees for entry into specific countries and laws relating to driving that can be easy to fall foul of. These people are there to make your life easier and ensure that your vacation needs are completely taken care of, something the internet cannot do. Don't get me wrong, the internet is great but it is not caring and it is always reassuring dealing with a real person. You can book all of your flights and hotels through the internet but when it comes to complaining or trying to resolve an issue, suddenly a website cannot be of assistance whereas travel agents are there to assist you. A few years ago when my husband to be and I decided to elope and get married, it was a real travel agent that helped make it all possible.
She could not have done more for us and she seemed to take the arrangements very personally, something I have never forgotten. Once we had sorted out the budget she was able to give us plenty of options and was incredibly helpful in locating companies that could provide special services. S. so all we had to do was book the vacation. The other benefit of a travel agent is of course when it comes to problems you may have experienced on your vacation; something they are far more able to deal with than a computer. By George Briggs
